Malcontents: A Convergence of Trans Scholarship

This April 25th and 26th, the Centre for Expanded Poetics will host Malcontents: A Convergence of Trans Scholarship, a two day gathering of academics and theorists from a variety of disciplines confronting the ways that institutions deform and delimit knowledge production about transness as well as by trans people.

A public lecture will be held on each day of the event - the first will be given by Grace Lavery, professor of English at UC Berkeley, and the second by Marquis Bey, professor of African American Studies at Northwestern. There will also be a series of seminars by conference participants over the course of the weekend, who will be presenting and developing their own research and theoretical work.

Concordia University’s Writers Read series is a co-sponsor of this event, and will also be hosting a reading in conjunction with Malcontents featuring visiting poets Jos Charles and Raquel Salas Rivera on April 23rd.

Please check back soon for a more detailed schedule and list of participants.
